Vendée Globe in Les Sables d'Olonne: Village, Start, and Activities... The Essentials
The Vendée Globe is a solo, non-stop sailing race around the world, without any assistance or stops. The start and finish of the Vendée Globe take place in Les Sables d'Olonne. Every four years, the event attracts over 2 million visitors to the town during the three weeks leading up to the start of the legendary race.
The skippers depart from Les Sables d'Olonne and sail more than 40,000 kilometers, facing the most hostile oceans. Created in 1989, this now legendary race is considered the most extreme competition in open water, earning it the nickname "The Everest of the Seas."

Live the Vendée Globe: Village, Start, and Activities
The Vendée Globe village, located on the quays of Port Olona, immerses visitors in the world of offshore racing. Exhibitions, meet-and-greets with the skippers, and activities fill the weeks leading up to the start. The Vendée Globe village is open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
